ISTANBUL - International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by IMF Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam met with administrators of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) in Istanbul on Friday.
Following the meeting, TUSIAD Executive Board Chairman Omer Sabanci said that administrators of TUSIAD and IMF delegation exchanged views on economy, industry, unemployment and unregistered economy.
''We told IMF delegation that we are pleased with decrease in inflation and interest rates. We also said that we want the government to adhere to the economic program. We also see this will in our government. We discussed those issues with IMF delegation,'' he noted.
Sabanci stated that they also discussed that a solution could be found to unemployment issue with more domestic and foreign investments in the country.
When asked whether or not they demanded anything on the economic program, Sabanci said, ''sustainable growth is very important now. Our government has targets for 2004, like 5 percent growth rate and 12 percent inflation rate. The program should be carried on to reach these targets.''
IMF delegation also visited administrators of Saving Deposits Insurance Fund (SDIF).
