LEFKOSA - Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has said, ''the international donation conference, which was envisaged in the plan of United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, will convene on April 15, 2004.
Holding a press conference on Thursday for the first time after his appointment as the prime minister in January, Talat said, ''the conference is expected to be held in Brussels on April 15.''
''The conference aims to raise financial source for the new state to be founded after an agreement in the island. The conference also targets rehabilitation of people who will have to migrate. Representatives of the European Investment Bank, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the European Central Bank, the World Bank, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, and members of G-7 will attend the conference,'' he said.
Noting that any country, which wanted to attend the conference, would be welcomed, Talat did not give information about amount of the fund targeted to be raised in the conference.
