ANKARA - "There is only one nation in Turkey. We have tried to teach this lesson to the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party but I am not sure whether they learned," said Chairman of the Republican People`s Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal, on Tuesday.
Baykal addressed CHP deputies during the CHP group meeting at the Turkish parliament on Tuesday.
"CHP has warned the government on the terrorist threat. We have worked hard to change the government`s mindset," stressed Baykal.
"The triangle (we are fighting against) has a corrupt businessman on one corner. On the second corner there is a dishonest bureaucrat. On the third corner there is a corrupt politician. To save Turkey from corruptness we must break this triangle," said Baykal.
In reference to a possible military hot pursuit incursion into northern Iraq by Turkish Armed Forces, Baykal stressed that "PM Erdogan says Turkey may enter into northern Iraq if the Turkish Armed Forces desire so."
"Is it the armed forces which govern the country?" Baykal asked.
Baykal added that "if it is in the best interest of Turkey to enter northern Iraq, then the present AK Party government has an obligation to make such a decision and it is the duty of the armed forces to abide by the decision of the government."
