OIC Sg Ihsanoglu: Turkey Can Unite East And West

ANKARA - With its history, strategic position and rich cultural heritage, Turkey can play an important role in uniting east and west and members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), said Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the OIC, on Tuesday.
In a message sent to the 23rd meeting of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) Follow-up Committee, Ihsanoglu thanked COMCEC president Ahmet Necdet Sezer, who also is the president of the Republic of Turkey, and the Turkish government for their continued support to the OIC activities.
"I invite all OIC member states to show close interest to the eradication of poverty within our countries," also stressed Ihsanoglu.
