8 Die In Floods In Agri

ANKARA - 8 people died in floods that hit eastern city of Agri on Sunday, according to a statement released by Turkish Prime Ministry Emergency Management on Monday.
The statement also added 2 people, who were earlier reported missing, were rescued.
The statement said flood waters triggered by torrential rains carried away 8 people in the villages of Ugurtas, Kacmaz, Karlica Demirkapi, Seyithanbey, Danakiran, Karayseyitali in Habur town of Agri on Sunday evening.
The statement also indicated that search- and-rescue teams recovered bodies of 8 people.
A statement by the Prime Ministry Emergency Management DG indicated that the Red Crescent sent 1000 blankets, 138 tents, potable water and a mobile kitchen to the disaster zone.
Flood waters heavily damaged more than 150 houses. Some of those were totally demolished.
Damage assessment works are underway in the region.
