Price Of Electricity To Be Reduced In Free Zones

ANKARA - "We will cut the price of electricity by 25 percent in free trade zones," Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Thursday.
In an interview with the A.A, Tuzmen said, "we held a series of talks with Electricity Market Regulatory Board (EPDK) and the Turkish Electricity Distribution Corp. (TEDAS). Following the talks, we decided to apply industrial tariff for electricity used in free trade zones. After the decision comes into force, price of electricity will be down by 25 percent in free trade zones."
"This decision will relieve firms operating in those zones. We are aware that the free trade zones have a significant share in Turkey's foreign trade. If we make the necessary improvements, domestic and foreign investments in free zones will further increase," Tuzmen said.
