ANKARA - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Eric Edelman has said that the Turkish bureaucracy system should be so transparent and fair that new investors could be drawn to Turkey.
Speaking at a seminar on ''Making Business With United States'' organized by the Ankara World Trade Center on Tuesday, Edelman stressed that commercial relations between Turkey and the United States should be increased.
Noting that the United States had been the closest friend of Turkey for a long time, Edelman said that the two countries couldn't reach the targeted potential.
Stating that they encouraged leading U.S. companies to invest in Turkey, Edelman said they were ready to assist and support companies regarding investments.
Stressing that they were pleased with developing cooperation between Turkey and the United States and seeing entrepreneurs in Turkey, Edelman said that legal arrangements in Turkey changed frequently. Edelman emphasized that the system in the Turkish bureaucracy should be transparent and fair to draw new investors to Turkey.
Noting that necessary legal arrangements under investing in Turkey should go into effect and they should be put into practice, Edelman said that investors wanted to be treated equally and fairly without any discrimination.
Stressing that multi-national companies wanted to see sustainability in economic developments, Edelman said that investors should know about ''rules of the game''.
Stating that Turkey had great potential in mining sector and infrastructure investments, Edelman said Turkey couldn't draw investors because laws changed frequently.
Recalling that Turkish-U.S. cooperation had been targeted to be brought to strategic level during Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to U.S. President George W. Bush, Edelman said that sides had reached agreement not only on regional security, but also on commercial issues.
