ESKISEHIR - "The Anatolian Journal of Cardiology" has been the first Turkish journal that was admitted to Science Citation Index which covers the world's leading journals of science and technology.
Professor Bilgin Timuralp, editor of The Anatolian Journal of Cardiology, told a press conference in central city of Eskisehir on Wednesday that the primary goal of his journal was to introduce Turkish cardiology to the world's cardiological community.
"Our journal, which was first published in 2001, was admitted in its second year to one of the world's leading medicine libraries, Index Medicux. In the following five years, our journal has been a leading source for researchers in several countries, including USA, Russia, Britain, Iran, Germany, Qatar and the Netherlands," Timuralp said.
Science Citation Index is a citation index originally produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) in 1960 in USA, which is now owned by Thomson Scientific. The online version (Science Citation Index Expanded) covers 6,400 of the world's leading journals of science and technology, but mainly those in the English language.
This database allows a researcher to identify which later articles have cited any particular earlier article, or cited the articles of any particular author, or determine which articles have been cited most frequently.
