CANNES - "I am glad and honored to be here," said Yetkin Dikinciler, the leading actor of the Turkish film "Mavi Gozlu Dev: Nazim Hikmet" (Nazim Hikmet: Blue Eyed Giant) which is a non-competitive film at the 60th Cannes Film Festival.
"This is the first time that I have been in Cannes. Our film is not competing in the festival, but it will be on the screen during the festival. We hope that Nazim Hikmet, who is a world citizen, will meet spectators around the world, like how his poems address readers around the world," Dikinciler told A.A correspondent.
"Nazim Hikmet: Blue Eyed Giant" is a film about 15 years of the life of the great Turkish poet. Sentenced in 1941 to 28 years in prison for involving in communist propaganda, the poet enters Bursa prison where he holds on to life with the dream of the day he will be free again. The film focuses on Nazim`s productivity and the permanent changes he triggers in the lives of all the people around him. It also shows the political stance of the great poet, as well as his loves and fears.
