STARSBOURG - Head of the socialist group at the European Parliament has taken a critical tone Tuesday over French President Nicholas Sarkozy`s attitude on Turkey`s prospective EU membership.
"I do not believe that Sarkozy will block membership talks with Turkey," Martin Schulz, head of the Socialist group at the EP, told a press conference.
Schulz also predicted that the French president would possibly soften his tone just like German Chancellor Angela Merkel did after she came to power in 2005.
"Sarkozy is trying to stir up a storm in a tea-cup," Schulz added.
