ANKARA - 14th Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival will take place with art performances in several cities including Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya between June 7th-July 16th.
The festival is organized by State Opera and Ballet and well-known Turkish dance group "Anadolu Atesi (Fire of Anatolia)".
Renown Greek tenor Mario Frangoulis is among the foreign guests of the festival. He will give the opening concert on June 7th. Frangoulis will be accompanied by the Orchestra of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet and soprano Feryal Turkoglu in his performance. Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi`s prominent work, "Nabucco" will be staged on June 12th in Ankara, as well.
Guest dance group from Tatarstan State Opera and Ballet Theater will perform French opera "Carmen" by George Bizet and Russian based ballet group Krasnodar Grigorovich will perform "Spartakus".
World famous Turkish pianist Fazil Say will take stage in Aspendos Antique Theater in southern city of Antalya, on June 22nd.
On the other hand "Mevlana Oratorio" will be staged as part of the activities connected to 800th anniversary of birth of the great philosopher. The oratorio will cover Mevlana`s life and his teachings.
