Babacan: There Are Positive Developments About I.M.F.

ANKARA - State Minister Ali Babacan said on Thursday that there were positive developments about International Monetary Fund (IMF), noting that a statement could be made soon on the issue.
EU Term President Ireland's Ambassador in Ankara Sean Whelan hosted a lunch in honor of ambassadors of 15 EU member countries and 12 candidate countries in Turkey and Babacan.
Babacan told reporters that Treasury would possibly make a statement on the visit of IMF delegation soon, noting that, ''there are positive developments. The written statement that would be made by the Treasury will announce what will be done.''
Replying a question, Babacan said steps taken by Turkey on Cyprus issue were appreciated.
Babacan said the steps taken by Turkey on Cyprus issue showed how strong the political will of Turkey was on the EU process.
Underlining that the steps taken by Turkey on political reforms were noteworthy, Babacan said similar steps were taken on economic reforms.
