ENTHUSIASM IN SAMSUN
The last rally was held in the northern city of Samsun with the participation of nearly 80 thousand people. Taking the floor at the rally, Prof. Dr. Turkan Saylan said, "we are opposed to Sharia, separatism, racism and military coup." People waved red-and-white Turkish flags and chanted slogans.
HURRIYET IN GLOBAL LEAGUE
A meeting took place in Moscow to introduce representatives of the Hurriyet and the Trader Media East Ltd. (TME), one of the most important advertising agencies in Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and eastern Europe, to each other after the Hurriyet purchased 67.3 percent of the Trader Media East's shares for 336.5 million USD.

NEW MIDDLE CLASS APPEARS
Sociologist Prof. Sencer Ayata described the demonstrators as "new middle class" and noted this group of people is an educated segment of the society who does not like intervention in their lives.
"The traditional middle class people were farmers, artisans, and tradesmen. Around 90 percent of the Turkish population was from the traditional middle class. However, now that the doctors, lawyers, dentists, bankers, teachers, secretaries and nurses are the middle class. The most distinctive characteristic of the new middle class is that they reached their actual position with education."
NEW TARGET IS TO UNITE IN THE BALLOT BOX
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Zeki Sezer, who decided to unite for the elections (to be held on July 22nd), attended the "Rally for the Republic" together.
Asked if they would unite if there was not demand for them to unite, Sezer said, "everything is obvious. There is no reason to discuss the probabilities."
Baykal said, "Turkey has put forth a potential and made us unite. However, now that it is time to unite in the ballot box. The nation will make this in the ballot box."

"THIS MECHANISM IS OVER," BASER SAYS
"This mechanism is now over. There is one door left, I will open that door and I am quitting in June," said retired general Edip Baser, Turkey's special envoy for countering terrorism. "It is not that we take up arms and go terrorist hunting. But because of the doors we have opened, very important things have been accomplished. Now there is one more door to open," Baser told SABAH in an exclusive interview. The retired general refused to elaborate on what "the last door" might be, saying, "These are classified issues, do not ask me to reveal them."
SAMSUN HOSTS "REPUBLIC RALLY"
The Black Sea city of Samsun hosted Sunday the sixth of a series of public meetings, "republic rallies." Police said 140 thousand demonstrators participated at the rally whereas the meeting committee put the figure at 300 thousand. Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Zeki Sezer made a joint appearance at the meeting.

CONVINCING WITH WINE
German Der Spiegel magazine wrote that Sabanci Holding's CEO Guler Sabanci will convince French President Nicolas Sarkozy about Turkey's EU membership with Turkish wine. Sarkozy made statements in the past against Turkey's EU membership.
TAV IN TUNISIA
TAV signed a contract to operate the Enfidha and Monastir international airports in Tunisia. TAV will make an investment of 500 million USD at the Enfidha airport and will increase the airport's annual capacity to seven million passengers. TAV will also increase the capacity of the Monastir airport.
THEY BROKE 12,000 SEATS
Fanatic supporters of Galatasaray broke 12,000 seats during the derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. Galatasaray is expected to receive a penalty of at least four games, said sources. Fenerbahce beat Galatasaray 2-1 on Saturday.

GREAT EXCITEMENT IN BLACK SEA
Hundreds of thousands of people from 40 different cities gathered in the northern city of Samsun to attend the last Republican rally. They decorated the square with red-and-white Turkish flags. Republican People's Party (CHP) and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leaders attended the rally together.
THE OBSERVER: "OUTCOME COULD HAVE AN EXPLOSIVE IMPACT"
The Observer, one of the leading dailies in Britain, published an article written by Andrew Anthony "A Fight for the Soul of the New Turkey". The article reads, "the tensions at the heart of Turkey are becoming increasingly severe. A fierce struggle is taking place between modernity and tradition, Islamism and secularism, democracy and repression. The outcome could have an explosive impact on us all."

EVERYBODY WAS YOUNG IN SAMSUN YESTERDAY
The last "Rally for the Republic" was held in Black Sea city of Samsun yesterday. The demonstrators were more than the Republic Square (that was estimated to have a capacity of including 38,000) people.
Chairperson of the Association in Support of the Contemporary Living (CYDD) Turkan Saylan said, "we oppose to racism and coups who make children murderers. Saylan also congratulated rightist and leftist parties who ensured unity.
NOW IT IS THE TURN OF THE NATION
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal and Democratic Left Party (DSP) Chairman Zeki Sezer went to the "Rally for Republic" in Black Sea city of Samsun together. A large crowd of people welcomed the two leaders at the airport.
Speaking at the demonstration, Baykal said, "the rallies enabled us to unite. Now, it is time to unite in ballot boxes. There was not slogans for us to unite in this demonstration. Now, we say you unite in the ballot boxes."

The difference between state-run and private hospitals will be removed completely. People will be able to get bill of health with the signature of a single doctor instead of approval of a whole board of doctors.
BLACK SEA NATURAL GAS
The first natural gas production has begun in Akcakoca town of the northern city of Duzce. Speaking in the town, Energy & Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said, "one tenth of natural gas consumed in houses throughout Turkey, will be produced in Akcakoca."

The Ministry of Health is getting prepared to make another reform by introducing electronic prescriptions which will replace current prescription booklets. Pharmacists will be able to track patients' medication details on the new online system which is also backed by smart carts. The system is expected to reduce malpractices.
MEETINGS ACCOMPLISHED THEIR MISSION, BAYKAL
The sixth and the last of a series of public rallies, "the republic meetings," was held in the Black Sea port city of Samsun on Sunday. Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Deniz Baykal and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Zeki Sezer made a joint appearance at the meeting, who led their respective parties to an alliance for the upcoming general elections. Baykal said that the meetings have accomplished their missions.
