TEHRAN - Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said on Wednesday that Turkey's security also meant the security of Iran.
Replying to a Turkish journalist who asked why Iran didn't recognize officially PKK-KADEK as a terrorist organization, Khatami said at Developing-Eight (D-8) summit in Tehran that Turkey's security concerns were also the security concerns of Iran.
Khatami noted that Iran condemned terrorist activities wherever they were carried out. He said that Iran would not permit anybody to carry out activities against Turkey from Iranian territory.
Noting that Iran believed Turkey was subjected to terrorist activities, Khatami said that Iran condemned the terrorist activities staged in Istanbul.
Joint security commissions of the two countries carried out positive studies, had very good meetings and they would continue to do so, Khatami said. He stressed that there would be no reason that would cause disagreement between Turkey and Iran. Khatami stressed that the two countries easily sorted out the problems between them.
Upon a question about the things that could be done by Turkey regarding the relations between the U.S. and Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said that Turkey could overcome the doubts and wrong ideas of the United States about Iran.
