ISTANBUL - The Seventh European Regional Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference of the International Federation of Red Crescent & Red Cross Societies (IFRC) hosted by Turkish Red Crescent began in Istanbul on Sunday.
Delivering a speech in the inauguration of the conference at Grand Cevahir Hotel, Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said that the main themes of the conference were "migration" and "health".
"Millions of people don`t and can`t live on their homelands. This causes some problems that should be handled by aid organizations," Sahin remarked.
Sahin noted that there were also health problems such as AIDS and tuberculosis which might cause mass death in the world.
Indicating that a final declaration "Istanbul Agreement" would be signed at the end of the conference, he noted that this declaration would also be discussed in the UN.
"Turkish government is ready to cooperate with all national and international aid organizations," Sahin underlined.
Turkish Red Crescent Chairman Tekin Kucukali said that they had deep experiences over migration and demographical movements.
Explaining health services given by Turkish Red Crescent, Kucukali stressed that national aid organizations should be supported by the community.
On the other hand, IFRC President Juan Suarez Del Toro said that aid organizations in the world should have close cooperation.
Stating that all refugees should be assisted without taking into consideration their political status, Del Toro remarked that their slogan was "Altogether for Humanity".
