LONDON - "We are getting ready to be in the government again," said Ali Babacan, state minister and chief negotiator for EU on Saturday.
State minister Babacan who is London in order to attend to the annual ball of Turkish British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TBCCI) replied questions of reporters.
Answering a question regarding relations with IMF, Babacan said another review by the Fund has been completed and the end-result should be answer to those who claim that we implement an election economy.
"We will continue to implement our economic program in 2007 as well. Whether we will continue to work with IMF in 2008 and how, is a decision to be made at later dates. There are many alternative programs. We will continue to work with international institutions," said Babacan.
"None of the parties other than Justice and Development (AK) Party are in the psychology to become in the government. We are in the government and we plan to be in the power again," said Babacan, reminding that AK Party has a 7 year reform plan.
Minister Babacan delivered a speech at the TBCCI ball, where he pointed to the vastly growing trade volume between Turkey and Britain. "Trade volume between two countries was 5.5 billion USD in 2002 and this amount reached 12 billion USD last year," he added.
