President Sezer Calls On Citizens To Vote In General Elections

ANKARA - "Every Turkish citizen must cast his/her vote in the upcoming general elections. This is vital for the future of Turkish Republic," Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Friday.
President Sezer released a message to mark the May 19th "Ataturk Remembrance, Youth & Sports Day".
Sezer remarked that the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founder of Turkish Republic, and the essence of the Republic must be preserved.
"Turkish citizens are determined to keep alive the Republic," he noted.
On the other hand, Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc, calling on Turkish youth to vote in the general elections said that "I believe that Turkish youth would contribute to the formation of the new parliament."
Arinc stated that Turkey was a candidate to become a shining star in the future thanks to its youth population.
"Turkish youth who have great competitive power in areas such as education, science, art, politics and sports will contribute to the development of the country," he indicated.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who issued a message on the same occasion said, "only the nations which have full confidence in their youths and provide good education for them will exist in the future."
