ANKARA - Turkish people with their enthusiasm for technology have turned the European averages for changing cellphones up side down.
While cellphone users in Europe hold on to their cellphones for an average of two years, 20 percent of the users in Turkey change their cellphones every 6 months to a year.
The survey that Telecommunication Council had Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) carry out in 4322 households on cellphone and telephone use in Turkey revealed striking results.
According to the results 26 percent of the participants like to follow innovations in technology and buy new devices with the brands they fancy, and an average of two cellphones is used in every household.
83 percent of the participants said they owned cellphones and 17 percent said they did not feel the need to use cellphones.
The responses showed the participants give importance first to the coverage area, then to service quality and finally to call rates when choosing between GSM operators.
67.5 of the participants pay attention not to talk on the phone for long periods of time and the longest uninterrupted call does not exceed 15 minutes. 69 percent of the participants spend between 10 to 50 YTL on monthly cellphone bills.
