Denktas: We Are Carrying Out A Work Envisaging Revision Necessary For Protection Of Our Rights

LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has said that they had been carrying out an intense work under the Cyprus negotiations process, adding, ''this work envisages a revision which is necessary for protection of our rights.''
Speaking to the Turkish News Agency (TAK), Denktas said, ''we are making our preparations. The matter that our people should know is that we have been carrying out a work envisaging a revision which is necessary for protection of our rights. Whether we succeed or not will become clear at the end of this work. We will always inform our people on developments.''
Denktas said that content, method and agenda of negotiations and negotiation delegation would become clear in a meeting with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro De Soto at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Regarding the Greek Cypriot radio's report about participation of EU Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen who would come to Cyprus on Wednesday, in negotiations, Denktas said, ''there is not such a thing. It gave wrong information. Verheugen does not have a status or a place at negotiation table.''
