Turkey To Open A Consulate General In Basra, Gul

ANKARA - "I hope we will open a consulate general in Basra as soon as possible," Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said on Thursday.
"Turkish representations in Baghdad and Mosul continued to work in days when many countries closed their embassies in Iraq," Gul stated during a meeting with doctors from Mosul who are actually in Turkey for a vocational training program.
Gul noted that Turkey attaches importance to Iraq`s future and is in close cooperation with Iraq.
"If our neighbor is not in peace, we will definitely not be in peace," he added.
Fifty doctors from Mosul are attending vocational training programs at several hospitals in Ankara.
They will return to their countries on May 27th.
