TEHRAN - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, who is currently in Iranian capital Tehran to attend the Fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of Developing-8 (D-8), met with President Mohammad Khatami of Iran on Tuesday.
Speaking prior to the meeting, President Sezer said that he would be pleased with hosting President Khatami in Turkey.
Khatami said that he would visit Turkey during his term in office.
Thanking Turkey for sending aid during the quake disaster that occurred in Bam city of Iran, President Khatami said that Turkey's commiserating with them diminished their grief.
President Sezer expressed Turkish people's profound sorrow over the disaster in Bam, and extended condolences to relatives of those who lost their lives in the quake disaster.
Stressing that both Turkey and Iran were located on fault lines, President Sezer recalled that Turkey suffered heavy loss during the two quake disasters in 1999.
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener, Turkish Ambassador to Iran Selahattin Alpar and Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi were also in attendance at the meeting.
