ISTANBUL - With only a six-month reserve left in dams providing clean water for Turkey`s largest cities and experts estimating that the country will see the hottest-summer-ever, Istanbul`s water authority was compelled to urge citizens on Wednesday to pay maximum attention when consuming water.
Water reserves in dams around Istanbul are now only 47 percent of their capacity, with only 416 million cu.m. useable water left, ISKI (Istanbul Water & Sewage Authority) executives said.
On the other hand, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also declared a series of prohibitions on Tuesday to save water, as precaution.
According to prohibitions, car washing and irrigation of parks and gardens by tap water will not be allowed.
