ISTANBUL - Swiss photographer Jean Mohr`s exhibition titled "Side by Side or Face to Face" portraying day-to-day life in Israel and Palestine, was inaugurated in Istanbul on Tuesday.
64 photographs taken by Mohr is exhibited in Istanbul State Fine Arts Gallery with the support by Swiss Consul Generate, Metis Publishing House and Bogazici University.
The exhibition reflects day-to-day life in Israel and the Palestinian territories between 1949 and 2003, with the help of portrays of ordinary people.
The exhibition will be open for visitors until May 25th.
Andre Brohy, Switzerland`s Consul Generate to Istanbul was among the participants of the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Jean Mohr was born in Geneva September 13, 1925. He worked in the Middle East, with Palestinian refugees as a representative of the International Comittee of the Red Cross and later for UNRWA. He studied painting in Paris (Académie Julian) before coming to photography at the age of 30.
At the Swiss National exhibition of 1964, Jean Mohr was chosen as one of the 50 artists forming "la Voie Suisse".
In 1978, he obtained a prize in Koln for the photographer who had worked most for the cause of Human Rights. In 1984, he received Contemporary Photography Prize in Lausanne with the exhibition "C`était demain" (`It was tomorrow`) and in 1988 the City of Geneva Prize for the Plastic Arts (awarded for the first time to a photographer).
