International Folk Dances Festival Kicks Off In Sakarya

SAKARYA - The "Fourth Sakarya International Folk Dances Festival" started in northwestern city of Sakarya on Tuesday.
The festival was inaugurated with a parade during which folk dances teams from Turkey, Poland, Macedonia, Kosovo and Bulgaria performed their traditional dances.
Sinan Cileli, chairman of Sakarya Folklore Research and Introduction Association (FOLKART), stated that the festival was first held in 1998, however it had to be suspended for a while due to "Marmara earthquake" (that hit the region in 1999).
"Today, foreign participants are here to introduce their countries` cultures, exchange cultural values and contribute to international friendship relations," said Cileli.
The festival will end on May 20th.
