PARIS - Turkey will be promoted with wide-scale activities at the 60th Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 16th to 27th this year.
"Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism fully supports the Turkish movies that will compete at the festival and it planned a series of activities aiming to promote Turkey in Cannes," said Serpil Varol, Turkish Counsellor for Culture & Promotion in Paris.
Turkish director Fatih Akin`s movie "Yasamin Kiyisinda (On the Edge of Life)" will run for "Palme d`Or" at this year`s festival.
Moreover, Semih Kaplanoglu`s 2 movies, "Yumurta (Egg)" and "Sut (Milk)" will compete within the "Quinzaine de Realisateurs" and "Atelier" categories respectively.
Nobel Laureate Orhan Pamuk will act as a jury member at the festival as well.
A 100 sq.m. pavilion was constructed inside the festival village to introduce Turkey.
Ministry of Culture & Tourism will hold a reception at the Turkish pavilion on May 22nd. Jury members, moviemakers, artists and press members are expected to attend the reception.
