Turkey Raises $488 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey exported 133 thousand 450 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 488 million 71 thousand 615 U.S. dollars in the 24th week of the hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Wednesday that Turkey was exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 108 thousand 139 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 13 thousand 882 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 7 thousand 549 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 3 thousand 880 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the last export season, Turkey had exported 177 thousand 87 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 400 million 341 thousand 940 U.S. dollars.
