BAGHDAD - Five US soldiers were killed and 10 more were wounded in three separate attacks in and around Baghdad, the US military said on Friday.
Thursday's attacks came as thousands of American troops scoured a region south of the Iraqi capital for three soldiers kidnapped by Al-Qaeda, but it was not immediately clear if those killed were involved in the search.
The deaths brought total US casualties since the March 2003 invasion to 3,404 and the total deaths in May to 61, putting it on course to be one of the bloodiest months of the war.
