ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder will officially open the Sugozu Power Plant in north of the Iskenderun Gulf on Tuesday, February 24.
The power plant in the southern Iskenderun Gulf has already started energy generation with imported coal.
Isken Corporation, a joint venture set up by German Steag AG and Power AG, built the power plant with a 1.5 billion U.S. dollars of direct foreign investment.
Sugozu Power Plant will generate 9 billion kWh electricity a year.
Company officials said that they had employed nearly five thousand people during the three-year construction period.
