ANKARA - NATO`s anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) exercise, DOGFISH 2004, will take place in Ionian Sea to the east of Sicily between February 19 and March 3.
Releasing a statement on Tuesday, Naval Forces Command Secretariat General said that the exercise would be conducted by NATO Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe (COMNAVSOUTH) and NATO Command Submarine Southern Europe (COMSUBSOUTH).
Air and above water coordinated maneuver against submarines, underwater cooperation and coordinated submarine defense war will be put to test during the exercise.
The United States, Germany, France, Britain, Spain, Italy, Canada, Norway, Portugal, Greece and Turkey will participate in the exercise with seven submarines, fourteen maritime patrol aircraft and six surface ships.
TGC Sakarya (S-354) and TGC Doganay (S-351) submarines will represent Turkey in the DOGFISH 2004 exercise.
Turkish submarines will also visit Augusta port of Italy as a part of the maneuver.
