RABAT - A Moroccan man once held by the United States at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp in Cuba has been acquitted of terrorism charges by a court here, a report said Thursday.
Mohamed Slimani was originally sentenced to five years' jail on terrorism charges in November last year but the conviction was overturned on appeal at an anti-terrorism court outside Rabat, the Map news agency reported.
Two other former Guantanamo detainees, Mohamed Ouali et Najib Houssaini, had convictions for "organising a criminal group" dropped and their sentences reduced from three to one year for falsifying official documents.
The three men were handed over to Morocco by the United States in February, 2005.
