ANKARA - Georgian Foreign Minister Tedo Japaridze came to Turkey on Monday as the guest of Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul.
Japaridze who will start his official meetings on Tuesday will meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Gul.
Bilateral relations, regional and international developments which concern two countries will be taken up at the meetings.
GEORGIAN INTERIOR FORCES COMMANDER GEN. TATUHASVILI VISITS GENDARME FORCES COMMANDER GEN. ERUYGUR
Georgian Interior Forces Commander General Gogi Tatuhasvili visited on Monday Gendarme Forces Commander General Sener Eruygur.
Gen. Eruygur said that close relations were established between Georgia and Gendarme General Command as of March 2001.
Noting that four Turkish personnel were still in Georgia as trainers and a total of 47 personnel had been trained until today, Gen. Eruygur said that another 49 personnel had been trained in Gendarme Schools Command in Turkey until today and their training was still continuing.
Gen. Eruygur said that Gendarme General Command has provided an assistance of nearly two million dollars to Georgia until now. He added that Gen. Tatuhasvili considered to adopt the structure of Gendarme General Command, thus a close cooperation atmosphere was formed between the two organizations and he thanked Gen. Tatuhasvili.
Gen. Tatuhasvili said that he was assigned to his mission two months ago and added that they wanted to form an organization in Georgia which was similar with the structure of Gendarme General Command of Turkey. He said that this organization would contribute to restoring peace in the region.
Gen. Eruygur and Gen. Tatuhasvili will examine bilateral relations on internal security between the two countries and they will exchange views and information on development of these relations and forming new cooperation fields.
