ISTANBUL - Fairness is essential for an alliance between Republican People`s Party (CHP) and Democratic Left Party (DSP), DSP chairman Zeki Sezer said on Monday.
Sezer spoke to the press prior to `Taksim meetings` organised by Marmara Group foundation in Istanbul. Answering a question on why CHP chairman Deniz Baykal and he did not stand side by side at the Republican rally in Izmir on Sunday, Sezer said it would have been disrespect for the huge masses participating at the rally to present it as the play ground of their parties.
Sezer emphasized that rumours suggesting that DSP was negotiating for seats at the parliament was not just and said he had announced he would not be a candidate early in the alliance process. Sezer said this was an issue of fair representation and not a negotiation for number of seats at the parliament.
Sezer indicated that their aim was to secure the integrity of the regime and said they were trying to form the social foundation of the alliance.
