Conference On "Fight Against Ideological Support Of Terrorism"

ANKARA - "If international cooperation and consensus cannot be reached, fight against terrorism will become more difficult in near future," said Gen. Ali Erdinc, DG of Turkish General Staff Training Department, who spoke at the inauguration of a conference on "Fight Against Ideological Support of Terrorism" held by the Center of Excellence-Defense Against Terrorism, in Ankara on Monday.
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Ross Wilson, 95 participants from Turkey, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Romania, Russia and Serbia, as well as 39 academicians and experts from several countries, attended the conference.
Gen. Erdinc said that the conference --which is jointly organized by Turkish Parliament, George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and NATO-Russia Council (NRC)-- will contribute to further develop the relations between these three institutions.
Noting that ideological dimension of the terrorism have significantly increased due to globalization, Gen. Erdinc said that this uncontrolled rapid change may increase the support towards terrorism, in the future.
A total of 6 panel discussions will be held within the framework of the conference which aims to revise the measures in fight against ideological support of terrorism, as well as to develop projects for the future.
The conference will end on May 18th.
George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies aims to strengthen the cooperation between defense institutions in North American, European and Eurasian countries as well as to create a more stable and secure environment.
