ISTANBUL - "The 2nd International Beyoglu Poem Festival" organized by History & Social Sciences Institute (TTBE) and Beyoglu Municipality kicked off in Istanbul on Monday.
Taking the floor in the inauguration ceremony, Beyoglu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan said that Istanbul and Beyoglu have been hosting different religions, languages and cultures.
"Prominent poets from several countries are attending the festival. It will make a positive impact on Turkish culture and art," Demircan stressed.
28 foreign poets from 19 countries including Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Greece, Macedonia, Iran, Germany, Italy, France and Britain as well as 32 Turkish poets are participating in the festival.
Poems will be read as well as conferences and seminars will be held during the festival.
