ISTANBUL - Police confiscated 67.5 kilograms of heroin, 56.8 kilograms of hashish, 1.8 kilograms of cocaine and 44 pills in six separate operations in Istanbul.
A statement of Narcotic Department said on Saturday that 50 kilograms of heroin was seized in a vehicle in Silivri town of Istanbul and a Bulgarian citizen who wanted to smuggle the heroin to European countries was detained.
The statement noted that police searched another vehicle in Eminonu district, confiscated 12.3 kilograms of heroin and captured three people.
A Dutch citizen with Turkish origin named Raziye Oren who wanted to fly to a European country was captured with 4.7 kilograms of heroin at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Acting on a tip-off, police seized 1.8 kilograms of cocaine and detained a Brazilian citizen named Patricia Camargo and a Turkish citizen.
In a separate operation, police confiscated 56.8 kilograms of hashish in a house in Bagcilar district of Istanbul and detained the owner of the house.
Police also seized 44 ecstasy pills in a party organized by university students in Istanbul and took into custody 19 people.
Five of 24 people who were detained were sent to prison while the rest 17 were released, the statement said.
The statement added that three people were still being interrogated.
