Former Israeli Foreign Minister Peres In Istanbul

ISTANBUL - Shimon Peres, leader of the Israeli Worker's Party in opposition and former Foreign Minister of Israel, proceeded to Istanbul after completing his meetings in Ankara.
Peres was greeted at the Ataturk Airport by Deputy Governor of Istanbul Murat Yildirim and Israeli Consul General in Istanbul Amira Arnon.
Speaking to reporters, Peres said that during their meeting in Ankara, Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal and he had discussed the issues that everybody discussed everywhere.
Peres said that Turkey which played an important role in the Middle East showed the whole world how a country could live in peace.
Replying a question about problems between Israel and Palestine, Peres said that both countries should work in the same way economically but in a different way politically for the future of their people.
Later Peres attended a meeting of the Taksim Group at The Marmara Hotel and delivered a speech but sources said attendance was not so high as expected due to bad weather.
