NEW YORK - Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal, who is currently in New York, met separately with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan's special envoy to Cyprus Alvaro De Soto and U.S. Special Cyprus Coordinator Thomas Weston.
Following the meeting, Weston told reporters that they hoped that a successful meeting would be held on Wednesday. He said that they, as the United States, were doing their utmost for a solution to Cyprus issue.
Weston also met with Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos earlier the same day.
Diplomatic sources said that U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell also had a meeting with Papadopoulos.
