ATHENS - "There is no change in Greek policy regarding Turkey`s EU perspective," Greek FM Dora Bakoyannis said on Monday.
Commenting on remarks of French president- elect Nicolas Sarkozy pertaining to Turkey`s EU perspective and the developments in Turkey, Bakoyannis said, "Greece thinks Turkey should be encouraged to implement its reforms, democracy and meet pre-requisites. Turkey`s EU membership is in the benefit of Turkish people."
As regards to internal developments in Turkey, Bakoyannis said Athens closely followed the developments in question and wishes democracy to prevail.
"A European and stable Turkey is also in the benefit of Greece, and Athens strongly supports this," she added.
