Voting For Constitutional Amendments Starts

ANKARA - Secret balloting for the constitutional amendments has started in the parliament on Monday.
The amendments make possible election of a new president by popular vote; reduce the term in office of the president from seven to five years; and allows the him/her to stand for a second term.
The bill also envisages holding general elections every four years.
The amendments are presented by the Justice & Development (AK) Party and is supported by some MPs from the Motherland Party (ANAVATAN).
