Parliament Begins Debating Constitutional Amendment Bill

ANKARA - Turkish parliament began debating a bill amending the constitution on Monday.
The bill foresees election of the president by popular vote, lowers term in office of the president from seven to five years and allows him/her to be re-elected for a second term.
It also envisages holding general elections every four years.
