BURSA - The Turkish car manufacturers, exported 80.4 p.c. of cars they manufactured between January-April 2007 to EU countries, industry sources revealed.
Automotive industry is considered as the engine of the Turkish economy.
According to the Uludag Exporters Union (UIB), Turkey exported automobiles to 160 countries and 14 free trade zones between January-April 2007.
The Turkish automobile exports in the first four months of 2007 were worth USD 5.9 billion, USD 4.8 billion of which earned from EU countries.
On the other hand, more than 50 p.c. of Turkish auto exports were shipped to Germany, Italy, France and Britain.
