ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan announced on Wednesday 2004 privatization programme in a news conference.
The privatization process regarding the block sale of 51 percent of Telecom's shares will start at the end of May.
The year 2004 will also be a busy year especially for distribution companies in the electricity sector.
The strategy determination studies about the privatization of tobacco factories of state-run Tobacco and Liquor Administration (TEKEL) are expected to be finished in March and the privatization deadline is planned to be announced.
Public offering will also come to agenda for institutions like Turkish Airlines and Erdemir (Eregli Iran and Steel Factories) whose shares are sold and purchased in Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB).
The preliminary meetings about privatization of lottery have also started.
The factories of Turkish Fertilizer Industry company (Tugsas) in Kutahya and Samsun, and the remaining facilities of leading paper producer Seka and Sumer Holding will also be privatized this year.
Unakitan also said that privatization activities worth of 2.2 billion dollars were undertaken since the beginning of 2003 and totally 248 million dollars of cash inflow was provided.
