Turkey Welcomes Libya's Steps To Ban Chemical Weapons And Nuclear Tests

ANKARA - Turkey welcomed on Tuesday Libya's move to be a side to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction.
A statement of the Foreign Ministry said that Turkey also welcomed Libya's move to hand over the document saying that it had ratified the ''Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty'' to United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The statement said, ''we have welcomed Libya's move to be a side to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction on February 5, 2004 and its move to hand over the document saying that it ratified on January 6, 2004 the 'Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty' to U.N. Secretary General.''
''These steps of Libya are considered a step forward on road to universalization of the mentioned agreements and on the road to integration of the mentioned country to international community,'' the statement pointed out.
The statement added that Turkey was ready to share its experiences in implementation of the mentioned agreements with Libya.
