ISTANBUL - An Iraqi man among 12 Iraqi people who were brought to Istanbul for treatment underwent on Tuesday an open heart surgery in Medical Park Hospital.
Reha Ozkaya, the director general of the hospital, told reporters that two of the six Iraqi people who were taken under treatment in their hospital underwent an angiocardiography on Monday.
Ozkaya said that a 52-year-old Iraqi man, who had four congested vessels, underwent an open heart surgery after the angiocardiography.
Doctors decided that the other person who had an angiocardiography on Monday could not undergo any surgery, Ozkaya noted.
Ozkaya stated that heart transplantation was necessary for that second person who had started to take medicines for treatment.
Another patient who had tumor in brain would probably have a surgery on Wednesday, Ozkaya pointed out.
Ozkaya said that doctors continued to examine three Iraqi children.
Meanwhile, doctors at Memorial Hospital said that two of six Iraqi patients would undergo a by-pass surgery on Thursday while they continued to examine the rest of the patients.
