WARSAW - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul listed on Tuesday common values of a united Europe as, ''a Europe which is built on freedom, democracy and justice, a Europe where cultures, traditions and experiences meet, a Europe which is a global model of diversity of co-existence, a Europe which is fighting against people who cause conflicts, a Europe which gradually unites over common values and visions and a Europe which considers this union a responsibility, not a necessity.''
Gul, who is paying an official visit to Poland, delivered a speech on Turkey's approaches to European Union (EU) at the College of Europe Natolin.
Recalling that Turkey was sending students to the College of Europe in Bruges, Gul said that a College of Europe would be formed in western Izmir province as a part of a common project with EU.
Addressing Polish and other students in the College of Europe Natolin, Gul said, ''we should raise hopes of forthcoming generations and provide them with opportunities.''
Foreign Minister Gul, who was received by Polish Senate Speaker Longin Pastusiak, will return to Turkey after being received by President Aleksander Kwasniewski.
Gul had gone to Poland on Sunday to hold several meetings as the guest of his Polish counterpart Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
Foreign Minister Gul met with his Polish counterpart Cimoszewicz and they held a joint press conference on Monday.
