Amnesty International Secretary General Khan Visits Interior Minister Aksu

ANKARA - Amnesty International (AI) Secretary General Irene Khan and accompanying delegation visited on Tuesday Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu.
Following the meeting, sources said that the delegation expressed positive view about legal arrangements on human rights and laid down concrete proposals on structural reforms.
Khan and accompanying delegation, who came to Turkey late on Sunday, visited Human Rights Association's branch in Istanbul and AI Turkey Office in Istanbul on Monday. The group met with representatives of non-governmental organizations at AI office in Istanbul.
The AI delegation visited the parliament and met with Parliamentary European Union (EU) Adjustment Commission Chairman Yasar Yakis and Parliamentary Human Rights Commission Chairman Mehmet Elkatmis earlier in the day.
The delegation headed by Khan will meet with Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul on Wednesday and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.
Khan is expected to meet with representatives of non-governmental organizations in southeastern Diyarbakir province on Friday.
The AI delegation is expected to depart from Turkey on Saturday.
