NEW YORK - U.N. Security Council's closed session on Cyprus and Iraq started on Monday.
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan will give information about recent developments and respond to questions.
Meanwhile Alvaro De Soto, Annan's special envoy for Cyprus who will meet with TRNC President Rauf Denktas the same day is expected to come to Turkish House.
No statement was issued about the content of the meeting, but some diplomatic sources asserted that Denktas could submit the letter covering his reservations to De Soto to be given to Annan.
ANNAN TO ASSESS FLEXIBILITY OF CONCERNED SIDES IN CYPRUS
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan will try to understand how much flexibility the concerned sides in Cyprus could show during meetings on Tuesday.
U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said on Monday in a news conference that the official meetings about Cyprus would start tomorrow.
''The plan is on the table, I think U.N. Secretary General Annan wants to hear from each side what their opening position is, how far apart they are, how much flexibility there is on either side to compromise, and then see if the whole process can be accelerated to a successful conclusion,'' he said.
Eckhard added that the details of the meeting programme would become clear soon.
