KONYA - Search and rescue teams found a woman alive in the rubble of the collapsed building in Konya early on Monday when they heard her saying 'water, water''.
When he heard his wife is alive, Halil Yaprakci came to the area and officials let him speak to his wife on the radio. Sources said Yasemin Yaprakci told his husband, ''I am fine. Don't worry. Is our son alive?''
Officials said Yasemin Yaprakci felt relieved when she heard that rescue teams had saved their 1.5-year-old son Bahar.
Yaprakci was shouting ''water, water'' 157 days after the building collapsed, was rescued alive after three hours of work since her feet were trapped under beam.
Relief efforts injected serum to Yaprakci and put an oxygen mask on her mouth.
Officials said that Yaprakci was very exhausted when search and rescue teams reached hear and wanted water but could only wet her mouth.
Yaprakci, who was hospitalized, was very exhausted but she was conscious.
STATE OF HEALTH OF NEW SURVIVOR OF BUILDING COLLAPSE IS NOT GOOD
Konya Numune Hospital's Chief Doctor Riza Saribabisci said that state of health of Yasemin Yaprakci was not good.
Saribabisci told reporters that doctors saw gangrene symptom on Yaprakci, who was rescued 157 hours after the building had collapsed in Konya.
Doctors were doing what was necessary, Saribabisci said.
Saribabisci said, ''mecrosis (death of tissue typically caused by injury, disease or insufficient blood supply) has been observed in Yaprakci. There may be fractures in her chest. We have seen symptoms of gangrene. Her health condition is still critical. Doctors are doing what is necessary.''
YASEMIN BROUGHT TO GATA HOSPITAL IN ANKARA
Yasemin Yaprakci was brought to the Gulhane Military Faculty of Medicine (GATA) Hospital in Ankara with a military helicopter.
Sources said that her kidneys stopped functioning and she had several broken bones in her chest and showed signs of having gangrene in her feet, and she was taken to emergency.
