BAGHDAD - U.S. top administrator in Iraq Paul Bremer said on Monday that terrorism was the common problem of Turkey and the United States.
Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the Chairman of Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), and accompanying delegation visited Bremer.
Following the meeting, Bremer told reporters that Turkey and the United States were front countries against terrorism.
Bremer said that developments had been recorded in Iraq's security but he could not say that the issue had totally been solved.
Noting that success had fairly been reached in efforts to ensure internal security, Bremer said that there were still some problems stemming from Al Qaida outside Iraq.
Bremer said that Iraq had joined the front countries against terrorism.
Regional countries were interested in undertaking projects in Iraq despite everything, Bremen noted.
Bremer stated that Turkish companies would decide on whether or not to undertake projects in Iraq after visiting and seeing the country.
Paul Bremer guessed that Iraq would become more secure in the following 12-18 months.
TOBB delegation also met with Thomas Foley, the Director of Private Sector Development in Iraq.
In this meeting, Foley told Turkish delegation that their timing was right and that Turkey was a very good investment and trade partner for Iraq.
Foley said that Turkish companies could win tenders in case they competed.
