ANKARA - The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal, on Monday, urged for wider conflict if the top court would not annul the presidential elections.
"We'll do our best on this. But I can't give you good news on that," said Baykal emphasizing that they received a clear message given by millions of Turkish people gathered in Istanbul on Sunday to protest against the government and calling on leftist parties to unite.
Opposition parties continue to press the government to call early elections and to suspend the presidential elections, after a harsh statement by the army criticizing the process.
Baykal, in a press conference, said that Turkey is faced with a crisis where the army had to express its worries about the future of the country. "Huge crowds are gathering. We haven't seen these sorts of gatherings in our history. It shows that the uneasiness is wide spread amid all segments of the public and institutions," Baykal added.
